Recognition

Dear Friends and Family,

RECOGNITION season is here again! SAG awards were Sunday night, the Oscars are coming up at the end of the month, and even real estate is getting in the game with Variety's Showbiz Real Estate Elite 2022, which features over a dozen Compass agents – well done!

Much of the usual recognition—both in film and in real estate—is related to sales numbers, and while that's certainly a great metric sometimes it misses out on other contributions that are less flashy or less publicized, or even not publicized at all: “In 2021, at least five of the top 10 residential real-estate sales in Manhattan took place with no active listing associated with them.” – Wall Street Journal.

For Women’s History Month, I want to shine some well-deserved Recognition on some Amazing Women:

In 2020, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the ratification on the 19th amendment and women winning the right to vote, Monumental Women unveiled the first statue of real women in Central Park: The Women’s Rights Pioneers Monument of Sojourner Truth, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony. On Sat March 26, 2022 take a free tour of Central Park sites honoring Historic Women of Central Parkwith the Urban Rangers of the NYC parks Dept. #MonumentalWomen

A lot of Wall Street talk is about the Bull and the Bear, but don’t forget about Fearless Girl!

This Women's History Month, I am humbled and honored to be part of an industry that empowers women to become entrepreneurs every single day. I am inspired by the amazing things we accomplish.

An amazing woman (and my good friend!), Julie Faupel, is the founder and CEO of REALM, and a recent addition to the Compass family. Her team in Jackson Hole, WY is the premiere brokerage for Wyoming luxury real estate. You can catch Julie and me on Location Luxe, talking about the great lifestyle migration and second home investment happening across the country.

I am also honored to work with the incredible Wendy Koolik, part of the Koolik Group, at Compass. Her incredible family and team specialize in luxury South Florida real estate, but have also carved out their own special niche helping people who want to make Florida their official residence while still working/living part time in other places, like New York City.

In the spirit of recognition, even though Black History Month ended yesterday, it is important to continue to strive for racial equality all year round. NYPL has curated an amazing list of books by Black Authorsfor people of all ages. I'll certainly be crossing a few off of my list!

If you're looking to get out of the house this month, it's all about squeezing in the last bits of winter (Ice Skating at Rockefeller Center or the Bryant Park Winter Village) or checking out the flora as the city transitions into spring (

Spot four-leaf clovers at the St. Patrick's Day Parade or visit the New York Botanical Garden's Orchid Show)

Julie and Wendy are just two of the amazing women around the country that I can confidently call friends and experts in their regions. Wherever your search for "home" takes you, I'd love to connect you to a trusted advisor anywhere across the country or world.

Happy March!
