Dear Friends and Family,

One of the best parts of living in New York City is the changing seasons, and while every season brings something special, nothing compares to New York during the holidays. And this year the city is going to be glowing brighter than ever with Broadway lights blazing again, heat lamps for outdoor dining, holiday lights and decorations everywhere and (fingers crossed for all the skiers like me) maybe even some snow!

The New York City real estate market is looking similarly bright. The third week of October saw the highest total sales volume since December 2013, and the highest volume of trophy sales (properties over $10M) since March of 2013. This surge of activity at the end of 2021 points to a strong market in 2022. Interest rates are still low, as are prices in some parts of the market, but we’re expecting activity, rates, and prices to climb in 2022 as well.

I’m sure you’re seeing Compass everywhere in the tri-state area, but as our expansion continues we’re also nearly everywhere across the country, including Jackson, WY and Kauai, HI. We now cover buyers and sellers in over 50 of the major markets in the country. Not bad for just celebrating our 9th anniversary!

For the holidays this year I’m shouting “Let's Get Back Together!" That's also the rallying cry for the Union Square Partnership, where their goal is to bring back the essential parts of being a New Yorker like being a restaurant regular, giving standing ovations at the theater, and one of my favorite NYC holiday traditions—visiting the Union Square Holiday Market, which opens on November 18th!
