Dear Friends and Family,

May is the month of M—from the Met Gala on May 1st all the way to Memorial Day on the last Monday in May. There are lots of days this month for meaningful celebration and recognition.

Yesterday was the biggest event in fashion, but it was also May Day, or International Workers' Day. Both events are about the importance of recognition — one honoring the talent and influence of Karl Lagerfeld, and one honoring the fundamental importance of the workers — behind celebrities' stunning looks are the countless people who make it possible.

May celebrations also honor the diverse histories that make up the fabric of our society and help foster growth as we view things in new ways and find solutions together. Diversity has even been proven to have positive economic impacts in the workplace. Cinco de Mayo* recognizes and honors Mexican culture and history and May 5 is also Buddha Day! On May 6 is the coronation of His Majesty the King of England.
*BTW, Margaritas aren't necessarily Mexican, but they are still my favorite cocktail! Have one on May 5!

May is also full of days celebrating family connections — not just Mother's Day on May 14, but International Day of Families, Brothers and Sisters Day, Birth Mother's Day, and even Child Care Provider Day. These are all a way to say that FAMILY (whether the one you were born with or the one you make) is IMPORTANT! Stay tuned for an important announcement about a family collaboration coming soon ...

For now, I'm in Miami with a chosen family of fellow REALM members, a global collective of top real estate pros. While I have only ever worked in real estate (for 40 years!), many came to it after storied careers in other industries. Events like this bring these varied experiences together so that we can grow together to better serve and protect our clients' interests and assets.

That feeling of protection and safety often extends beyond the walls and even beyond family. On May 12, be sure to thank Nurses — as the last three years have shown, essential workers are exactly that: *Essential*. And of course, for Memorial Day, we honor and say Thank You to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom.
